Problem : Effluorescence (Formation of whitish film on surface especially in damp area.)

• Probable Causes :
  • Soluble salt rising from within the floor or wall system with presence of moisture or water.
  • Contaminated water or sand containing soluble salt.
  • Free lime.
• Prevention :
  • Use tiles with low water absorption value.
  • Minimize moisture or passage of moisture through beds or joints.
  • Compactly install a tight, dense grout joint.
  • Ensure adequate underbed drainage.
