From concept design to installation
- Tiles are modular pieces which can be arranged to create patterns and designs. The selection of shapes, size, colour and finishing allows for unlimited design possiblities. Focal patterns and trims such as borders or listello are some results from the creative arrangement of tiles.
- The common combinations are:
- Different colour of the same size, shape and finishing
- Different sized or shaped tiles with the same colour and finishing
- Different surface textures with the same colour
- Mural design using mosaic tiles
Planning
- Consider:
- The environment of the area in which the tiles are to be installed.
- The technical characteristics of the tiles required.
Determine
- Any special treatment needed for the area that needs to be tiled such as water-proofing, special bedding or levelling of the base.
- Width of joints and type of grout needed (i.e. colour of grout can be selected to match the tiles).
Organise and check
- The straightness of floors and walls.
- The tiles for different subsizes and shades.
- The sequence of the whole tiling job.
